In May 2012, three months before I left to the United States to start my MA I visited Tarragona which is located in the south of Catalonia on the north-east of Spain by the Mediterranean.
The capital city has a population of about 134,000 inhabitants. The town also offers a number of historical sites including churches
from several different periods and a well preserved Roman colosseum. The Roman ruins of Tarragona have been designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Other Roman buildings include: the capitol, the Forum, the place of Augustus and the circus or Amphitheatre.f you’re all historied out, then have a stroll down the Rambla Nova in the heart of the city. The pedestrian promenade is lined with beautiful early 20th century architecture that will remind you more of Paris than an ancient Roman capital. Tarragona has a number of small bars, restaurants, and cafes serving the usual selection of tapas, bocadillos (sandwiches), and local seafood dishes. I enjoyed my trip to Tarragona since this city is truly a great place to spend a couple days that offers something for everyone, sun, beach, history and lots of fun.
Here are some pictures from the city,-)
Nice!! I hope I can visit some day.
